Barringer recently completed this 31,000 SF, full floor upfit for Grant Thornton in the new Vantage South End mixed-use development. Project scope included building out the entire space to include a mix of community desks and private offices, conference rooms of various sizes, sound-proof telephone booths, a café featuring a high top bar and lounge seating, and large, retractable glass walls to allow for a more dynamic configuration of the space. The entire project was finished in just 13 weeks despite delays and shortages of construction materials brought on by the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.

WHERE CORPORATE MEETS COOL
In addition to providing a more flexible work environment, Grant Thornton’s new space is redefining the corporate office concept by replacing traditional elements with modern, functional spaces. Instead of a reception desk, employees are greeted by a bright and open coffee bar, comfortable group seating and contemporary lighting features. Glass walls surround the area and allow for the floor-to-ceiling windows to add natural light to the space. Design elements including carpet, tile, wallcoverings, and furniture are in muted tones to maintain simplicity, further contributing to the comfortable feel and allowing features like the wood slat ceilings to add character and dimension. Custom and prefabricated planters were also integrated into the space to add biophilic design in subtle locations including the Café millwork, the metal grid shelving at Coffee and Café, and even some of the furniture pieces.
