Charlotte Pipe plans training center in Myers Park neighborhood

Charlotte Pipe & Foundry is building a new training center in Charlotte’s Myers Park neighborhood, replacing an existing site near the central business district. The 28,000-square-foot building is on the site that formerly housed Mecklenburg Furniture in one of the city’s priciest neighborhoods. After forging cast iron into pipes for more than a century near the Queen City’s center city, Charlotte Pipe moved 35 miles east to 700 acres in Oakboro in Stanly County. The foundry became fully operational in September 2023, after as many as 500 construction workers a day logged more than 1.2 million hours of work. Crestlight paid $192.5 million for SouthPark Towers at 6000 and 6100 Fairview roads in May 2022, and later announced plans to renovate and update the property's outdated amenities, lobbies and shared spaces.
