Founded in 2024 by eight major automakers, IONNA – a high-power charging (HPC) network for electric vehicles – is on a mission to build a nationwide network of ultra-fast, reliable EV charging stations across North America. Following an inaugural year of rapid growth, the company sought accelerate its market presence by centralizing operations into one location – a global headquarters and dedicated research and development lab in the heart of Durham, North Carolina.

IONNA’s new space incorporates state-of-the-art design and engineering solutions with a focus on sustainability and innovation. The 24,000-square-foot facility is the company’s first centralized hub and features an open office environment as well as extensive research and development space, both of which include cutting-edge technology, enabling seamless integration of advanced EV systems and fostering collaboration among employees.

A cutting-edge ‘quarterback lab’ to drive innovation, reliability and best-in-class customer experience

A stand-out element of this space is IONNA’s Customer Experience Lab, which serves as the central innovation hub for testing and refining EV charging systems, ensuring seamless interoperability across automakers. The lab allows for the simulation of real-world user interactions to enhance the charging experience and will play a pivotal role in accelerating development, interoperability testing and continuous improvement of features.
