Supporting sustainable systems at a large scale

As part of Charlotte Pipe’s next-generation manufacturing campus, this purpose-built water treatment facility plays a critical role in supporting efficient, high-performing operations. Designed to collect, treat, and reuse water throughout the production process, the facility helps reduce waste, conserve resources, and reinforce a more sustainable approach to manufacturing.

Powering performance through every cycle

This component of the facility was designed for efficiency and sustainability, the system begins with gravity-fed water collected from buildings across the site, flowing into a 520,000-gallon cast-in-place holding tank. Once ready for treatment, a force pump system, featuring two 200-horsepower pumps, transfers the water from the holding tank into the treatment facility. Inside, the water is cleaned and processed before being routed back into the main facility for reuse. This closed-loop system minimizes waste, reduces resource demand, and ensures a continuous, reliable water supply to support ongoing operations.

Custom PEMB for equipment integration

Delivered through a design-build approach, the facility was tailored to meet the precise operational requirements of Charlotte Pipe. The 8,000-square-foot PEMB structure was designed with a 32-foot clear height, providing the necessary space to house and maintain specialized treatment equipment. Through early coordination and close collaboration, the team was able to align building design with system requirements, ensuring seamless integration and long-term performance.
