Heavy Hitters: Key details about Charlotte's top real estate developments

WINNER: TOP SPACE BUILD-OUT DEVELOPMENT

At 550 South Tryon Street, a landmark in Charlotte’s uptown skyline, Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC) has transformed 100,000 square feet of the tower into an employee work and amenity space. The renovation showcases a commitment to creating spaces that foster a positive employee experience in a collaborative and adaptable work environment.

At home, everyone gathers in the kitchen. The same is true for 550 South Tryon’s new, 20,000 square-foot-food hall. The ground-floor space features biophilic elements to promote well-being and productivity. On level 10, a micro-market and sophisticated lounge area provide additional gathering spaces for employees. An existing rooftop terrace was revitalized into a lush garden, extending interior spaces toward nature.

The most significant transformation occurred on floors 46, 47 and 48, where 60,000 square feet of former C-suite space was converted into a state-of-the-art employee hub. The area is designed to support connectivity and collaboration. The new space allows any Wells Fargo employee the flexibility to work outside their assigned floor. A monumental staircase connects the three floors, and amenities include a catering kitchen, full-service coffee bar and filtered-water bottle-filling stations.
