The largest radio station group owner in the United States, iHeart Media is home to several popular Charlotte-area radio stations including 96.9 The Kat and Hits 96.1. The company relocated it’s Charlotte HQ in early 2023, moving into the 2100 S. Tryon mixed-use building in the heart of
South End.

This new space includes 14 recording studios, 7 private offices, an IT/ Rack room that feeds all studio equipment, and a dedicated pantry area. The company’s unique branding is reflected throughout through a use of clean, modern design elements that feature bold pops of red. This project was  completed four weeks ahead of schedule, allowing iHeart ample time to transition into its new space.

BUILDING FOR BUSINESS NEEDS
Due to the nature of iHeart Media’s business, specific attention to detail was needed throughout the construction process to ensure high-quality soundproofing. Studio partitions were all constructed out of (2) studs, with an air gap between studs for sound isolation, and the bottom tracks were all installed on top of a rubber sound isolation mat. Additionally, all mc cable, junction boxes, and conduit were properly secured within the walls to prevent “rattling”. Multiple layers of drywall were applied to each side of the studio partitions, with a bead of sound isolation caulk in between them, and 2” acoustical panels were applied to finish face of drywall.
