Carlie’s Infamous Office Tour

building history

The pictures within one of the building’s original window frames were taken in the 90’s – note the massive difference in Raleigh’s skyline in the background. An architect, who we call Mr. Kurt, purchased the building and transformed it into the shell you see today. Contrary to popular belief, this was not a firehouse! It was built in 1925 and was actually used as a part of The Allen Forge until the 50’s. It had various tenants, with our personal favorite being the waterbed store in the 70’s/80’s, until the roof collapsed in 1981. We are so grateful for the vision he had to transform the space and the treasures he left behind for us, like the jail cell door and red valve downstairs in our speakeasy.
