TBJ reveals
2018 Best Places to Work awards winners

Jul 31, 2018

This week, Triangle Business Journal is announcing the 50 winners of its 2018 Best Places to Work awards. The winners were chosen based on an employee-survey process conducted by Quantum Workplace. Once nominated, a company had to meet a threshold in employee participation – a percentage that varies based upon the size of the company – to be eligible to be honored.

The composition of this year’s class of winners reflects names that are familiar to TBJ’s Best Places to Work universe and introduces a handful of newcomers to the list. The winners cover a myriad of industries, including residential construction, finance, technology and life sciences.

Based on the survey results, TBJ, at the event, will honor the top-ranked businesses in several categories, based on size. Rankings in respective categories will be announced at the event.

“Employees are the lifeblood of any company,” says TBJ Publisher Jason Christie. “These 50 companies have demonstrated belief that happy employees produce successful and thriving businesses.”

BARRINGER NOMINATION

List the major accomplishments at your workplace that propelled your company to being one of the Best Places to Work in 2018.  Our focus is on our employees, our clients and our community. Our employees are cultivated with the understanding that we act as a family. We respect each other; we trust each other; we care for each other; we have open communication with each other; and we have each other’s back. We enforce that true family atmosphere within our office environment. We have an open-office arrangement and play music throughout the day that anyone can control. We have a shuffleboard table and a basketball hoop in our office along with a great tap system with beer on tap!

Benefits to our employees are very important! We have an unlimited vacation policy. This policy further enforces our culture of trust and respect.

Lastly, our focus on our clients and our community help make us one of the best places to work. We are blessed to work for some of the best companies in the Triangle (SAS, Red Hat, Epic Games, and Stewart to just name a few) and our employees love working for them. Our company leaders and employees have always held the attitude of “if we take care of our community, it will take care of us”. This can be seen in many ways including contributing time, financial support and being active advocates of the community in which we live. This approach creates a ripple effect of engagement and promotes an environment in which our employees thrive.

How do you raise employee morale?  Our methods are simple: we celebrate – constantly. We always look for ways to celebrate our success. We regularly have events to recognize our hard–work effort, including catered lunches in the office, employee awards and in-house games. We offer a great fun environment to work in and we are always looking for ways to improve our working environment.

Name a unique benefit or perk you are offering employees this year. What is unique to our competition is definitely not unique to Barringer:

* unlimited vacation;

* fun music played throughout the office that you can control;

* free Barringer clothing and gear;

* family gatherings throughout the year;

* games in the workplace; and

* pets are allowed in the workplace – kids as well!

What’s a unique workplace feature or space that you offer employees? We have an open-office arrangement and play music throughout the day that anyone can control. We have a shuffleboard table and a basketball hoop in our office along with a great tap system with beer on tap!

What will you do to raise your scores even higher next year? We are always looking to improve! Maybe massages every month for employees or maybe a fun family picnic at Carowinds – we shall see!
